Southwest of Montalcino lies the Argiano winery, whose origins date back to 1581. The winery changed noble hands frequently until 1992 when Countess Noemi Marone Cinzano took over the estate. She was supported by the famous oenologist Giacomo Tachis. Under his direction, the Brunello from Argiano was soon joined by the now famous Supertuscan Solengo.

Afterwards, Hans Vinding Diers took on the role of oenologist until 2019 when a Brazilian billionaire bought the winery and invested heavily in all processes.

As a result, Argiano also became the first plastic-free winery in Italy.
