Le Chiuse
The Le Chiuse winery, located south of Montalcino between the villages of Montosoli and Canalicchi, is a true jewel of Tuscany. It is closely related to the founding fathers of Brunello di Montalcino and belonged from the 18th century to the aristocratic Biondi-Santi family. Their Sangiovese wine made history in 1888 as the very first Brunello di Montalcino. Today, the small estate is run by Simonetta Valiani and her husband Nicolò Magnelli.
The Brunello from Le Chiuse sources its grapes from nearly 30-year-old vines in an eight-hectare plot with calcareous clay. The wine bursts with energy and temperament and offers aromas of wild berries, cassis, and sour cherries, framed by light smoke, tar, loam, blue flowers, and crushed minerals or limestone. It is an extremely balanced wine that will gain even more elegance and finesse with further bottle aging.
