The Meerlust Estate is located in the Stellenbosch wine region on the banks of the Eersteriver and was founded as early as 1693 by the German Henning Hussing, who also built the Cape Dutch manor house that still exists today in 1693. Since 1756, the estate has been owned by the Myburgh family - now in the eighth generation. The entire property impresses from the outside, as all the houses are true treasures of Cape Dutch architecture and are under monument protection.

On 160 ha, Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, Cabernet Franc, Pinot Noir, and Chardonnay are cultivated. In addition, there are experimental vineyards with Petit Verdot, Viognier, and Sauvignon Blanc. All Meerlust wines are always matured in French barriques.
