Burgundy
The Corton covers around 160 hectares of Grand Cru appellations, offering a unique variety of "Climats" that stretch around the ridge with exposures from southwest to east at altitudes of 250 - 330 meters. In the middle and lower hillside locations, reddish-brown, well-stony limestone soils produce red wines of opulence and exceptional personality, which often require several years of bottle aging to fully develop their potential. The Clos des Vergennes, exclusively owned by Domaine Cachat-Ocquidant, adjoins the famous Corton-Bressandes on the eastern side within the municipality of Ladoix and is considered one of Burgundy's hidden gems.
The bouquet reveals an expansive richness of blueberries, dark cherries, plums, and violets. With increasing bottle age, the complexity further intensifies, developing additional notes of undergrowth, leather, black pepper, and licorice, as well as distinctly meaty tones. These are powerful, full-bodied, and densely woven wines with confident tannins and a mineral backbone, requiring several years of aging but then opening up to overwhelming personalities. Very good with roast venison or wild duck.

Cachat-Ocquidant
The Domaine Cachat-Ocquidant, now managed by Jean Marc Cachat, is located in the village of Ladoix at the foot of the famous Corton hill.
In addition to mainly red wines, a smaller quantity of truly very interesting white wines are also produced, often referred to as insider tips by sommeliers. For a long time, Jean Marc tended the Coche-Durys parcels on the legendary Corton and also assisted with the wine maturation at Coche. Thus, they always show a mineral appellation character with contemporary vinification and a lot of finesse in the use of wood.
However, the core competence of the Domaine clearly lies in finely spiced red wines from Ladoix, Aloxe, Savigny, and Chorey. The monopole vineyard of Corton Clos des Vergennes has been one of the most reliable wines of this Grand Cru site for many years. Jean-Marc Cachat's wine from this parcel has breed, character, a mineral core, and remarkable depth.
