The Cuvée Réserve Personnelle from the Combe estate is a Muscadet of great aromatic complexity.

This single-varietal cuvée from Melon grapes comes from a selection of grapes all from a single plot called "l'Infernale" (the Infernal), a nickname it undoubtedly owes to its dizzying slope.

The grapes are hand-harvested from 70-year-old vines and immediately pressed to preserve their quality. The juice thus obtained flows naturally by gravity into underground tanks, avoiding the addition of sulfur.

At the end of alcoholic fermentation, a small amount of sulfites is added to prevent malolactic fermentation and thus preserve the wine's natural flavor spectrum.

In the cellar, this Muscadet Sèvre et Maine is made according to the tradition of Nantes: on the lees and aged for 14 months in underground tanks, without filtration at bottling.

A very nice wine from an appellation that has been gaining popularity for several years!

Domain of the Combe

The Gadais estate is located in the village of Saint-Fiacre in the appellation "Muscadet Sèvre et Maine". The estate manages over 100 different plots, all planted with Melon de Bourgogne.

After studying oenology in Bordeaux and Beaune, Pierre-Henri took over the family winery from his father in 2016.

During a stay abroad in Switzerland, his fascination for organic and biodynamic viticulture grew. In Pierre-Henri's work, respect for the product is always paramount. A low-intervention winemaking process (which also includes the reduction of sulfur additions) and organic vineyard work are testaments to this development. Currently, a new cellar is being built, where the wine is moved exclusively by gravity.

The Muscadet region is known for its variety of soil types. These include mica schist, orthogneiss, and granite. Melon de Bourgogne is perfectly suited to reflect the fine differences between the terroirs. Therefore, the family focuses entirely on the indigenous variety Melon de Bourgogne. This grape variety has been present in the region since 1616 and has adapted perfectly to the Atlantic climate and the soil types of the region over the centuries.

In addition to the classic "Muscadet sur Lie", many other wine styles are produced here that showcase the variety's diversity. The wines of the estate have nothing to do with the bland seafood companions that are often found in the region.
