Sauvignon Blanc is one of the best-known international grape varieties worldwide, but it is now loved by the Friulians as a native variety. A timeless, delicate, noble, elegant classic. Originating from Bordeaux, the Sauvignon grape found ideal conditions on the sandstone marl of the Collio hills. In fact, over time it has adapted so successfully to the local soil and climate conditions that it has been able to give the wine its very own expression and is now considered a native variety in Friuli.

The vineyards of this Sauvignon wine are all located in the DOC Collio area, on the hills and valleys directly at the winery. The orientation, exposure, and altitude vary, meaning the grapes are harvested at different times.

On February 6, 1930, Daniele Venica signed the preliminary purchase of a farm in "Località Cerò," a district of the municipality of Dolegna del Collio, thus becoming the patriarch of the Venica family and founder of the winery of the same name.

At that time, the central part of the estate consisted of 10 hectares, with a farmhouse, a barn, vineyards, fruit trees, and surrounding farmland.

The Sauvignon "Ronco del Cerò" therefore holds a particularly important place in the history of the Dolegna winemakers, as it recalls the origins of the winery and is historically connected with the now four generations of the family.

Venica & Venica

Even today, Venica & Venica is a "family business," founded in 1930, with 40 hectares of vineyards, all located in the Collio D.O.C. The Venicas are down-to-earth winemakers who value their traditions while continuously engaging in research and innovation. This can be seen every year at ProWein, when Mrs. Venica herself offers the wines for tasting and warmly welcomes visitors.

Their love for the people and the land, Collio, and the passion with which they carry out their work have made Venica & Venica the company it is today. Their production philosophy can be summarized as follows: technology and organization are not enough; the relationship with nature requires more.

It is a teamwork that has developed over time to interpret the relationship between humans and the environment.
A harmonious relationship, without coercion, from which one can only gain the most if one gives everything in return. For Venica & Venica, ecological
sustainability is the starting point of a process that brings producers and consumers together and expresses the uniqueness of each wine, reflecting the different production reality each year.
