Apulia is known for its ideal conditions for viticulture, which already led to full-bodied wines in the region in ancient times. However, unfortunately, as so often, more emphasis was placed on quantity than on quality. But thanks to the innovative spirit of young winemakers and the establishment of wineries like Tormaresca, the situation has since changed. Nowadays, wines from southern Italy are popular among experts and have earned an excellent reputation. The Tormaresca winery is part of the large portfolio of Antinori and spans over 500 hectares in the DOC region of Salento, located directly on the Adriatic. Here, summers are dry and hot, while winters are mild – perfect conditions for indigenous grape varieties.
