The story of the Sottimano winery in Neive has been special from the very beginning. When Rino Sottimano completed his oenology studies and founded his winery at the end of the 1960s, he was clear from the start that he wanted to work organically in the vineyard.

This early decision benefits his children Andrea, Elena, and Claudia today. The vineyards such as Cottà, Curra, Fausoni, Basarin, and Pajorè are in an excellent balanced condition. For several years, Andrea Sottimano has completely refrained from using barriques and tonneaux. Instead, one finds large wooden fermentation stands and Botti in the cellar, and the wines are fermented with 'submerged cap maceration', a type of subtle fermentation like the bag in tea. This is evident in the Barbaresci, which have become finer and more elegant in recent years. They are as open-hearted, approachable, and lively as the three Sottimano siblings.
