The Casale del Bosco winery shines with Tuscan red wines celebrated worldwide. The family's vineyards, now about 80 hectares, nestle southeast of Florence in the town of Montalcino against the gentle hills of Tuscany. In 1951, Silvio Nardi acquired the winery. He is considered a pioneer in cultivating Brunello di Montalcino. The wine, made from a Sangiovese clone, is now among Italy's finest red wines. The region's warm Mediterranean climate favors the ripening of the sun-loving Sangiovese grape. The resulting DOCG wine matures first for several years in wooden barrels and then in the bottle. It is released for sale no earlier than the fifth year after harvest.
