As a constant in the Contrada single-vineyard wines, we always have a pure Nerello Mascalese here. This is the lowest Contrada at Passopisciaro. The 80-year-old vines root themselves at 550 meters altitude in limestone deep down, through the last outcrops of the volcanic lava layer, which is already thinning here. Despite the lower location, harvesting here happens later than in Contrada Porcaria because the limestone soil provides so much freshness and coolness to the site. 

Contrada C has this wonderful saltiness that emerges beneath the many ultra-fine tannins. The wines from Passopisciaro are truly fascinating and very close to the sensuality of red Burgundy. Biodynamic farming, but not certified.
