TuscanyTenuta Montecchiesi, owned by the Dal Cero family, is known for producing intense, fine, and harmoniously balanced wines, and this Vermentino Chardonnay is a perfect example! The native Vermentino grape variety is especially popular in central Italy.
That’s why Tenuta Montecchiesi decided to create a unique blend of Vermentino and Chardonnay, which combines the Mediterranean aromas of hawthorn and rosemary on the nose with fresh, fruity notes of mandarin and graphite.
This combination delivers an unparalleled taste experience. In the mouth, the Vermentino Chardonnay develops very refined aromas and textures. You can detect a beautiful balance of exotic fruits along with a crisp freshness, all underscored by a delicate hint of spicy almonds and orange peel.
The overall flavor is delicate and harmonious, with a long-lasting finish of ripe fruits and a spicy, mineral aftertaste.
The finale is full of ripe fruits and truly very flavorful!
The grapes for the Vermentino Chardonnay grow in Cortona, Tuscany. The vineyards are located in Montecchio at an altitude of 270 meters above sea level. Here, the vines are trained on trellises with a planting density of 4,000 to 5,000 vines per hectare. After a careful assessment of the grapes’ ripeness, the harvest is done by hand in mid-September.
The winemaking takes place in the cellar through gentle pressing, static decanting of the must with the use of selected yeasts. Alcoholic fermentation occurs in steel tanks at controlled temperatures. The wine then ages for at least three months in stainless steel tanks, during which the fine lees are stirred weekly. Afterwards, the Vermentino Chardonnay matures for at least another 45 days in the bottle before it is released to the market.
