The Conterno family is deeply rooted in Monforte d'Alba, and you can clearly taste that in their wines. Before founding their own estate in 2003, Diego was a co-founder of the famous Conterno Fantino winery.
The heart of the winery lies in three outstanding parcels in the famous Cru "Ginestra," which have been owned by the Conterno family for many decades. The concept of terroir is pursued here uncompromisingly. This is achieved through a very pure vinification: all the winery's Barolos are first fermented in stainless steel tanks and then aged in large wooden barrels made by the Austrian cooper Stockinger. This process precisely and accurately highlights the differences between the vineyard sites.
