Region
PiedmontNervis Gattinara is a 100% Nebbiolo from the vineyards of Molsino, Valferana, Garavoglie, and Casacce, located at altitudes between 290-420m. The aging process, long overseen by Roberto Conterno as the winemaker and since 2018 as the owner, takes place over three years in Botti, the traditional large wooden barrels of the region, followed by an additional 6-12 months of bottle aging after bottling. The Nebbiolo grape, known here as Spanna, produces a unique wine style in Gattinara that noticeably differs from its relatives in Langhe. The 2019 Gattinara stands out for its exceptional ripeness and intensity, reflecting the terroir of Gattinara. The volcanic soils contribute to complex aromas of dark berries, truffle, and herbs. On the palate, the wine is powerful and structured, with lively acidity and firm tannins that promise long aging potential. This vintage offers a profound and multi-layered drinking experience.
