The Brunello di Montalcino 2019 captivates the taster with its dark and earthy blend of crushed ash stones, giving way to rosemary, cedarwood, exotic spices, and a core of raspberry jam, drawing you close to the glass.
Enveloping and calm, it flows like pure silk over the palate, steadily building tension as tart forest berries and orange notes yield to a sweet herbal burst. The 2019 finishes with great length and classic structure, while crisp tannins linger and violet blossoms slowly fade over a tactile layer of minerality.
Il Poggione has wonderfully captured the character of the vintage.

Il Poggione
The history of the winery, as we know it today, begins at the beginning of the 19th century, when Lavinio Franceschi bought some land on the hills descending to the Orcia Valley near Sant'Angelo.
Today, the impressive estate covers more than 600 hectares, of which 125 hectares are planted with vines. The well-known international wine guides have been showering the winery with praise for its consistently high quality for many decades. About 60 hectares of vineyard area are authorized for Brunello. In the fifth generation, Livia and Leopoldo Franceschi now own the estate, while the management of the winery has been entrusted to the prudent director Fabrizio Bindocci for over 30 years.
The well-ventilated soils, the southwest exposure of the vineyards, and the influence of the cooling air currents from the Orcia Valley ensure, in most years, an invigorating, finely structured, and silky Brunello that is often ready to drink after just a few years and unfolds its full potential. The two wines Brunello di Montalcino and Rosso di Montalcino are absolute "blue chips" and ennoble every wine shelf.
