Located in the historic town center of the Free City of Rust, the Giefing family winery is based. The foundation of the Giefing winery was laid in a 500-year-old vintner's house at Hauptstrasse 13. The Freihof dates back to the 15th century and is also a UNESCO World Heritage site.
On the gently sloping hills of the Rust hill country, on the western shore of Lake Neusiedl, all the vineyard sites of the family winery are spread over more than 40 parcels, covering a total of around 16 hectares. These include renowned vineyard names such as: Umriss, Gemärk, Oberer Wald, Bandkräftn, and Rieglband.

The winemaking family focuses primarily on the Rust Trilogy; fruity, dry white wines - full-bodied red wines - and the Rust Ausbruch.

Since 2014, the Giefing winery has been a member of the Renowned Burgenland Wineries - RWB and was awarded the "Sustainable Winery" certificate in 2020.

The Pannonian climate here is characterized by cold, low-snow winters, hot, dry summers, and a long, mild autumn.

Lake Neusiedl acts as a climate regulator. The diversity of the Rust soil structures is also evident: river deposits from the Alpine region, bedrock, blown fine sand (loess), and sediments of ancient seas.

Each vine is checked several times from spring to autumn to guide it in the desired direction. Shoots are removed, excess grapes are thinned to achieve maximum physiological ripeness. Depending on the growth and condition of the vine and grape, a maximum of 6 to 8 grape clusters are left on the vine. These are harvested exclusively by hand and processed gently.
