The Candidvs Veneto Bianco IGT is an elegant, still white wine. Clear, fine, and balanced. It is characterized by a special complex aroma and precise freshness. With a unique historical origin. A sophisticated white wine for connoisseurs.

The Candidvs Veneto Bianco IGT is an expressive white wine with cultural depth and fine elegance. Its name derives from the Latin candidus and refers to purity, clarity, and origin. This wine is dedicated to the discovery of a Roman villa from the 3rd century AD whose mosaics were found beneath the family-owned vineyards.

The Candidvs presents itself clear and brilliant in the glass. The aroma is fine and complex. Fruit, floral nuances, and mineral accents are in balance. On the palate, it is fresh, precise, and balanced, with a fine smoothness and elegant length.

Origin & Philosophy

The grapes come from the vineyard Cortesele, exactly the area under which the Roman mosaics were discovered. The historic vines were preserved with great effort. They were carefully taken, protected, and replanted on a family estate of the Franchini family. They still thrive there today and form the basis of this special wine.

Grape Varieties

The cuvée combines Chardonnay, Garganega, Fernanda, Riesling, Pinot Bianco, Moscato, and Saorìn. This variety provides aromatic depth, freshness, and a delicate structure.

Harvest & Vinification

The hand harvest begins in the last weeks of September. The grapes are selected directly in the vineyard. Unripe berries are consistently removed.
This is followed by a very gentle pressing. Depending on the vintage, the wine matures for several months on the fine lees in stainless steel tanks. This aging gives it creaminess and precision. Afterwards, there is a short maturation in a marble amphora from Rosa del Garda, which emphasizes the minerality without covering the freshness.

Aging

After vinification, the wine matures 3 to 4 months in the bottle. This creates a harmonious, clearly structured white wine with elegance and depth.

Antica Corte Forlago is located with its buildings and vineyards in a hilly area. The vines are cultivated using the traditional Veronese pergola method (single and double) and offer a beautiful view of the valley below. All vineyards are a clear symbol of the craftsmanship that has shaped the winemaking tradition since its beginnings.

The harvest is done exclusively by hand, selecting only the best and ripest grapes. After harvesting, the grapes are placed in wooden crates, where they undergo the traditional appassimento technique (drying technique) at natural temperature for several months.

The oldest part of the winery dates back to 1460 and houses the barrel cellar, a clear testament to the region's ancient past. In silence, the wines rest and mature in French and American oak barrels.

Inside Corte Forlago, beneath the entrance area, lies an old ice cellar. Today, the old ice cellar is used as a special aging cellar for the most historic wines of the Franchini family.

The ice house, the centerpiece of the entire building, has a history spanning centuries.

These valuable bottles rest in darkness and silence, evolving thanks to the magic of time, becoming better and developing with each passing day.
