A fascinating thing about Gaja's wines is that he manages to bring his own style into every bottle across all regions and grape varieties.
As if the collection were actually from a winery. Still, the wines from Sicily have good acidity.
The IDDA Bianco from Angelo Gaja is a white wine made from the typical white grape variety of the small growing region, Carricante, which is similar to Riesling. It is aged for 12 months partly in wooden barrels and partly in stainless steel tanks. The bouquet seductively smells of white blossoms and lemon balm, with elegant aromas of marzipan. On the palate, it is full of finesse and elegance, fresh and with impressive minerality. An exciting wine from Etna, entirely in the style of the great Angelo Gaja!

IDDA
The family business Gaja has developed extremely dynamically over the last few decades and is now active not only in Piedmont but also in Tuscany and Sicily. For Angelo Gaja, Etna has always been a place of longing, and since 2015 he has been cultivating 19 hectares, primarily planted with the native grape varieties Nerello Mascalese and Nerello Capuccio. His winery is called IDDA, the native name for Etna, and that is also the name of the wine, both in red and white.
Wherever Angelo Gaja has his hands involved, an enormously impressive quality comes to the bottle. This is also true for his Sicilian project, which he has developed together with the Graci winery. He purchased two plots totaling 40 hectares on the southern side of Etna, which, in contrast to the northern side, is still quite undeveloped, with only a few wineries. The Graci winery itself is also located on the northern side of the volcano, just like Tenuta delle Terre Nere. The southern side does bring some challenges, but at the same time also seemingly endless potential, especially for white wines.
