Thorny Devil Grenache offers characteristic aromas and spice from McLaren Vale with an enchanting texture and a fragrance that unfolds piece by piece.
The grapes were handpicked from several sites, each vinified separately. With up to 30% whole bunch pressing. The wine was gently pressed from the skins and then aged for 10 months in old oak hogsheads (225-250 Ltr. barrels).

Thistledown
"Every wine tells a tale" is the guiding principle of Giles Cooke and Fergal Tynan. The two Masters of Wine share the vision of a more elegant, structured interpretation of Australian wine. With access to many of the best vineyards and Giles's experience in winemaking, Thistledown initially championed the old Grenache vineyards of South Australia and quickly earned a reputation as one of the best in the country in this category. Giles and Fergal met on the evening before the start of the Master of Wine course in 1998 in a bar. Both shared the frustration at the time that Australian wine was considered heavy, alcoholic, and unsuitable for premium restaurants in many markets. Both knew this did not have to be the case and set out to create wines full of elegance, detail, and balance.
