TuscanyThe 2022 Montevertine is an absolute eye-catcher. A wine of unusual depth and resonance, all in the classic Montevertine style with the purity of fruit found in today’s wines. Dark red cherry, red plum, blood orange, pomegranate, spices, menthol, and rose petals color the palate. All elements are very well balanced. The silky tannins are fully integrated into the fabric of the wine. This is super impressive. Montevertine is increasingly the wine that the savvy connoisseur should buy from the winery.
In the cellar, work is done "very traditionally, but with modern equipment." The hand-harvested grapes are macerated for about a month in concrete tanks without temperature control and then aged for one to two years in large Slavonian oak barrels. Only the single-varietal Sangiovese Le Pergole Torte spends one year in French barriques and then another year in the large barrels.
Martino Manetti consistently continues the unmistakable, distinctive, and traditional style of his father with the help of his oenologists Bruno Bini and Paolo Salvi. Very pleasing. This is, of course, also appreciated by international wine critics who rave every year and award top honors. We are convinced that you will be enthusiastic as well, especially if you give the wines some time after opening.
