Nervis Gattinara is a 100% Nebbiolo from the Molsino, Valferana, Garavoglie and Casacce vineyards, which lie between 290-420 metres above sea level. The ageing process, which has long been overseen by Roberto Conterno as oenologist and since 2018 as owner, takes place over three years in botti, the traditional large wooden barrels of the region, as well as a further 6-12 months of bottle ageing after bottling. The Nebbiolo grape, known here as Spanna, produces a unique style of wine in Gattinara that is noticeably different from its relatives from Langhe. The Gattinara 2019 is characterised by the exceptional ripeness and intensity that the Gattinara terroir offers. The volcanic soils contribute to the complex aromas of dark berries, truffles and herbs. On the palate, the wine is powerful and structured, with a lively acidity and firm tannins that promise long ageing. This vintage offers a profound and multi-layered drinking experience.
