Charles Dufour, born in 1982, finds himself in a situation that is as wonderful as it is challenging, caught between worlds. He is by no means a newcomer, yet he continues to pleasantly surprise people anew with his characterful champagnes.
At the winery in the village of Landreville, home to about 500 people and operated by his grandfather since 1925, he processes the grapes from approximately five hectares spread across six vineyards around the village, all certified organic by Ecocert. The home of these clay and limestone soils in the Côtes des Bar is noticeably milder than that of the Marne Valley, naturally resulting in a somewhat less opulent style in the bottle. Associated with the name Charles Dufour, one always looks forward to something new, as he carries the inventive spirit and charm of a Daniel Düsentrieb in his nature.
