Ruby red and delicately scented with cherries. Also light hints of nuts, forest fruits, vanilla, cinnamon, sage, and tobacco.
On the palate, concentrated and rich, with harmonious tannins and a long finish.
The vineyards were planted in 1959 by Giuseppe d'Almerita.
He was a pioneer in Sicily and laid the foundation for the first wine produced from a single vineyard. In 1970, it was still called "Riserva del Conte".
The vines are trained in the Alberello system as bush vines and are now an absolute eye-catcher.
Poor vintages are never released for sale.
