Instinct Meunier is based on the Le Grand Morceau plot and is blessed with 59-year-old vines. The soil contains flint as well as clay.
The base wine is aged in barrels from 2004. Malolactic fermentation does not occur.
Color:
Sparkling bright lemon yellow with delicate orange reflections and very even bubbles
Nose:
On the nose, Instinct Meunier Brut Nature from Jeaunaux-Robin combines yellow fruit with buttery notes and slight maritime hints. Mirabelle plum, some ripe pineapple, and peach come forward initially. This is followed by a series of typical aromas. Butter brioche, lightly toasted and warm-scented, makes it hard to resist. Very gently, bourbon vanilla and vanilla kipferl also come through. On the maritime side, it shows plenty of sea spray and oyster shell. The whole is rounded off with a touch of cold smoke.
Palate:
On the palate, it then shows itself clearly firmer and cleaner than the nose suggested. It is consistently dry, as its name already reveals, cutting through the fruit. Its gripping acidity structure also immediately builds real pressure on the palate. Sparkling wine for advanced drinkers. Its mineral film lays compactly over the tooth surfaces and settles there. Wonderful. It challenges and delights at the same time. Towards the finish, it shows pleasant bitterness that complements the fruit wonderfully. In the aftertaste, the oyster shell combined with lemon zest comes through excellently and, above all, lingers long.
