This highly exciting cuvée offers a wide range of aromas. Currant and cherry notes dominate the bouquet with hints of exotic spices. Light touches of cured meat and espresso add complexity. The texture of dark chocolate is balanced by powdery tannins and well-integrated acidity. The wine is medium-bodied with notes of licorice and a hint of coriander and cardamom.

Boekenhoutskloof, German for "Valley of Beechwood," was founded in 1776 by French Huguenots. The estate is one of the oldest properties in the picturesque Franschhoek region. Not only is the valley influenced by French culture, but the wines of Boekenhoutskloof are also Francophile. Chief Winemaker Marc Kent regularly flies to France to gather new impressions and experiences. This has made Boekenhoutskloof an icon. It is therefore no surprise that John Platter named Boekenhoutskloof "Winery of the Year 2012." The consistently outstanding wines receive one excellent review after another. However, you will search in vain for any star attitude. The estate remains modest, reserved, and despite enormous worldwide interest – the wines always sell out quickly – it has never lost its grounding.
