Just a few years ago, it was on the verge of extinction: the San Marzano tomato variety was hardly cultivated anymore. Meanwhile, it is experiencing a renaissance and is thriving again, thanks in part to the commitment of Slow Food, on the fertile volcanic soils at the foot of Mount Vesuvius. This special terroir and a mild climate influenced by the sea shape its uniquely aromatic flavor, which only fully develops in the can. For us, the most beautiful way to capture summer.

The best tomato
Every day, the harvest workers walk through the green rows, searching for the red tomatoes of the best possible size among the leaves and filling the crates. Giuseppe Napoletano is already waiting in his canning factory. His family owns their own tomato fields, but he has over 70 other contract farmers who deliver their tomatoes to him.
More than 20 years ago, when the Napoletano family's success story began in Germany, they were not affiliated with the Consorzio and therefore could not label their tomatoes as DOP San Marzano. This did not affect the success of these tomatoes. They remain one of the most sought-after foods to this day.
