SicilyThe recipe for this blend is on one hand very simple, yet only Peter himself knows it. The Georgian-French Khatia Buniatishvili is Peter’s favorite pianist. Much of the recipe is her interpretation of Franz Liszt’s second piano concerto. With her sounds in his ear, searching for the right barrels for this cuvée, everything comes naturally.
The result matures in used barrels from Darnajou in Pomerol, is complex and profound. 60% Merlot, 20% Syrah, and 20% Cabernet Franc come from Noto and the single vineyard "Il Vignolo." The latter are French Syrah clones planted by Peter Vinding-Diers on the crater rim of an ancient underwater volcano and form the heart of the estate.
A delicious blend with a cool, balsamic note, dark blackberry fruit, and a hint of black olives, licorice, and sweet marzipan. The taste is clear and intense, but not heavy or clumsy. Elegant, fine tannins. This is as refined as the hostess Susi herself. A liquid statement that was neither embellished nor filtered. 2700 bottles
