Vintage in 0.75 L already sold out. This is the first vintage in which Al Forte was also produced. This additional selection has definitely not harmed the wine. Probably the best Bramaterra vintage from Le Pianelle so far.

Nebbiolo grapes are the basis of Bramaterra. According to the DOC guidelines, it consists of 80% Nebbiolo and 20% Vespolina/Croatina. The grapes are handpicked exclusively in several passes; the different varieties and sites are brought in and vinified separately. The first phase of winemaking (fermentation and maceration) takes place in open Grenier oak vats. The young wine is then aged in repeatedly used barrique barrels and subsequently in large Stockinger oak barrels before being bottled after two years. There it matures for another one to two years before it can go on the shelf.

A wine of great elegance and untamed power. In the glass, it presents itself in a lively ruby red. On the nose, you can sense the aromas of forest fruits (blackberry, blackcurrant, raspberry) but also floral notes of violets. Added to this is the minerality derived from the porphyry soils, a distinct note of white pepper. We are sure – this wine will still make a splash.

In Alto Piemonte, you will find this, unfortunately, still only a hidden gem in Germany.

The winery, founded by Dr. Dieter Heuskel, focuses in Brusnengo on reviving the DOC Bramaterra. Once a world-famous growing area for top wines, the cultural heritage was somewhat lost during industrialization.

Now, after Alto Piemonte has already been considered a "hidden gem" in the USA for years, larger wineries have also started, firmly relying on climate change, to grow wine in Alto Piemonte and no longer only in Barolo or Barbaresco.

From the USA, the current 2023 vintage of Al Posto dei Fioris was rated with a proud 93 points by the second largest wine publication based there.

There, the hard work of the highly knowledgeable team assembled and staying together since the beginning at the winery - mainly consisting of Cristiano Garella, Andrea Zanetta, and Fabio Zambolin - has been appreciated with good ratings for years.

While in Germany probably a fraction of a percent of wine drinkers know what to make of Alto Piemonte...
