The Chardonnay is harvested from even younger vines in three villages.
Until the vineyards develop their own full character, these 3 origins are blended together. Fermented in barrique and aged there for just under a year, then left on the fine lees in stainless steel for another six months.
The sites Jechtinger Eichert (VDP.Erste Lage), Achkarrer Schlossberg (VDP.Große Lage), and Schelinger Ohrberg (not yet classified) share a very sparse volcanic subsoil. The Eichert and Schlossberg have darker soils (volcanic ash), whereas Ohrberg is lighter and more reddish.
This wine has three different labels featuring parts of the triptych "Kaiserstuhl" by the artist Leiko Ikemura.
We only have two different labels here. If anyone wants a specific one, just mention it in the order.
