The Ca‘ Del Bosco Cuvée Prestige was born in 1976 under the name Franciacorta Pinot and represents the first step into the world of Franciacorta from the winery. In 1991, it received the name Franciacorta Brut N.V., developing an increasingly recognizable style true to the terroir. In 2005, after more than 30 years of research and dedication, it became Cuvée Prestige and gained its own clearly defined identity. After a consistent reduction in dosage during pressing to highlight the characteristics of the origin grapes, the 2017 vintage is enriched with the attribute Edition, allowing the various nuances of each interpretation to settle in the taste memory.

The Franciacorta Cuvée Prestige Edizione 47 presents itself straw yellow with emerald green nuances in the glass. It enchants the nose with an enveloping scent of candied citrus zest, kiwi, papaya, and freshly baked bread. Its perlage is very fine-grained and elegant.

On the palate, it is very lively and presents itself fresh and pleasantly juicy, supported by a fascinating finish of fragrant citrus notes.

The transparent glass bottle is wrapped in an orange plastic foil to protect the contents from light rays.

The base wines of the Ca‘ del Bosco Cuvée Prestige are the result of a careful selection of grapes and skillful winemaking, carried out according to the Ca‘ del Bosco method.

For the Franciacorta Cuvée Prestige Edizione 48, the grapes come from Chardonnay vines with an average age of over 30 years, located in the municipalities of Erbusco, Adro, Cazzago San Martino, Corte Franca, Iseo, and Passirano. Additionally, grapes from Pinot Bianco vines averaging 30 years old from the municipality of Passirano were used, and finally, grapes from Pinot Nero vines averaging 24 years old from the municipalities of Erbusco, Provaglio d’Iseo, and Passirano. Overall, this special Franciacorta Cuvée mainly consists of wines from the 2022 harvest.

The grapes, hand-harvested in small crates, are sorted and cooled. Each grape is selected by expert eyes and hands to then enjoy the exclusive “grape bath”: a special system for washing and hydromassage of the grapes, consisting of three soaking basins and a drying tunnel. After pressing under oxygen exclusion, all musts of the base wines ferment in temperature-controlled steel tanks and remain there until the following March. Then the wine must age for seven months to clarify, mature, and fully express the character of the original vineyards. Afterwards, the wines are skillfully blended in the “magical rite” of Cuvée creation. Only after at least 2 years of aging on the lees can this Franciacorta express its full richness and identity. The disgorging is carried out under oxygen exclusion using a unique system developed and patented by Ca‘ del Bosco. This avoids oxidative shocks and further additions of sulfites. As a result, the Franciacorta wines are purer, more pleasant, and longer-lasting. Finally, each packaged bottle is clearly labeled to ensure traceability.

Ca' del Bosco

History

The history of the winery begins in 1964, when Annamaria Clementi Zanella, mother of Maurizio Zanella, the current owner, bought Ca‘ del Bosc, a small house in the hills of Erbusco. Two hectares of land surrounded by a dense oak and chestnut forest.

However, the company's winemaking journey was started by Annamaria's son Maurizio Zanella, who was able to identify and enhance the characteristics of the Franciacorta territory. In the early 1970s, Maurizio began to develop these areas and over the years transformed the small house "Ca‘ del Bosc" (House in the forest) into one of the most modern and productive wineries in Italy. Since then, every action has been guided by a single fundamental principle that defines the essence of the cellar: the pursuit of excellence, which has always led the house since the first experimental phase.

In 1978, during one of his research and study trips to France, Maurizio Zanella met André Dubois and hired him, a renowned "Chef de cave" of legendary Champagne houses, from Taittinger to Moët & Chandon, who was to bring rigor and expertise to the company. Thanks to Dubois, the comparison with Champagne became inevitable, as Ca‘ del Bosco uses the same method for its sparkling wines that the French invented more than three hundred years ago…

Champagne was taken as a model and the comparison was not shied away from. It is thanks to Dubois that the production of Franciacorta was consolidated, leading in 1979 to the birth of the first vintage of the Riserva Franciacorta Spumante, a Pinot Millesimato, which from the 1989 vintage was dedicated to the founder's name. His influence on all Ca‘ del Bosco wines continues to this day.

The company today

Ca‘ del Bosco is today undoubtedly one of the most important wineries and an icon not only of the Franciacorta area but of the entire Italian wine scene. Since its foundation, the company has grown significantly. In the 2000s, the cellar was expanded from an area of 10,000 square meters to 20,000.

A great deal has been invested in innovation, research, and technology to integrate human knowledge with the potential of the Earth. New bottling lines have been developed, along with an innovative system for washing and drying the grapes, and the "Zero Oxygen" disgorging process has been defined and perfected. Washing grapes or eliminating oxygen through new patents represents the exact opposite of technology intruding into rural reality: it means removing everything that, whether superfluous or artificial, would prevent people from understanding the aesthetic power of the territory. By carrying out disgorging in the absence of oxygen, the presence of sulfites can be further reduced. This is one of the aspects Ca‘ del Bosco cares about most and that makes Franciacortas more long-lasting.

Today, Ca‘ del Bosco’s sparkling wines can compete with the finest sparkling drops from Champagne. Their finesse is achieved through several years of bottle aging on the lees.

Sustainability and organic certification since 2014.

"A great wine is born in the vineyard. In the cellar, you can only improve it."Ca‘ del Bosco

The land represents an important heritage. A wealth of biodiversity that Ca‘ del Bosco understands how to protect over time as the guardian of these soils. For this reason, the company has chosen certified organic viticulture: a more conscious approach aimed at respecting the balance between different ecosystems and protecting the organisms living there. With the Ca‘ del Bosco method, the wine finds its true identity thanks to the decision to always invest only in the place of origin and protect it through organic farming.
